Experience in an authentic location and in rooms furnished true to the original how the Berlin merchant family Knoblauch lived here around two hundred years ago. The exhibition Everyday Life in Biedermeier Berlin: Humboldt, Schinkel and the Knoblauch Family provides in-depth background information about the residents of the house, their famous guests and the era between the end of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 and the revolutionary events of 1848.

The ‘Sunday at the Nikolai Quarter’

With this day of action, the Stadtmuseum Berlin is continuing the popular Museum Sunday, which unfortunately cannot be continued in 2025 due to cost-cutting measures by the Berlin Senate. Instead, on the first Sunday of the month, we will be offering a special, wide-ranging programme for everyone at our three museums in the Nikolai Quarter – families in particular are cordially invited. So you can still look forward to great programmes at the Museum Ephraim-Palais, the Museum Nikolaikirche and the Museum Knoblauchhaus!

Even if admission can no longer be free for everyone, it will at least remain so for many: Our solidarity pricing model offers free admission for visitors with proof of discount, for example for children and young people under the age of 18, students, trainees, FSJ, FÖJ and BFD volunteers, severely disabled people, refugees, recipients of citizen’s allowance or ALG I and many others. All others only pay the museum entrance fee and can benefit from our discounted combi-ticket for all three museums. The extensive day of action programme is included in the price!
