The Museum Ephraim-Palais is showing a special presentation entitled ‘1884/85 – 1994: 110 Years of Anticolonial Resistance | The Struggle: South Africans in Exile in Berlin’ on the open spaces of the ‘BerlinZEIT’ exhibition. Against this backdrop, Tauriq Jenkins will talk about anti-colonial resistance in southern Africa. The narrative arc begins around 1510 with the ‘Battle of Salt River’ in what is now Cape Town, where the Khoikhoi delayed the European land grab for 142 years. And it extends to the current protest against the plans of the US retail group Amazon to build its African headquarters on the historic site of the battle.

Please note

The lecture will be held in English. Ticket holders can visit the exhibition and the special presentation from 4 pm. Limited places available.
